History of Genea Biomedx

Genea Biomedx is proud to be a part of the Biorescue project

Where the use of advanced assisted reproduction technology is aiding the conservation efforts of mammals, including the Northern White Rhino.

In 2020 we donated a Geri incubator to the Aventea laboratory, a partner of the Biorescue project. In 2023, with the help of the Geri incubator, scientists were able to create an embryo and achieve the world’s first IVF rhino pregnancy. Unfortunately, seventy days into the pregnancy, the surrogate mother died from an unrelated bacterial infection. Although the pregnancy did not survive, it showed that with the help of Geri, pregnancy through rhino IVF was possible.

We are excited to see what the future brings with this hopeful and inspiring project.
